DR. ALIYA HOSTS HER 2ND ANNUAL THALASSEMIA FUNDRAISER!
MAKING THIS YEAR BIGGER AND BETTER THAN LAST YEAR!!!!

That time of year has come to host another THALASSEMIA FUNDRAISER! Because of everyone and their support last year, it turned out to be a great success and everyone had a great time! This year, I am hoping to make it even BIGGER & BETTER!!
Beta-thalassemia major is a genetic blood disorder that, to put it simply, entails a defect in the gene producing hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying capacity of the red blood cell.
As most of you know, I was first diagnosed with Beta-thalassemia at age 3 in Thunder Bay Ontario and underwent a bone marrow transplant at age 13.
Although thalassemia has come a long way, patients with thalassemia are considered "invisible" in the public eye. This is very unfortunate as their quality of life is severely impacted even though thalassemia is actually "managed" with blood transfusions and nightly injections of iron removal.
Last year, my goal was to raise AWARENESS of this disorder which was successfully accomplished! As well, I was able to donate funds to The Vancouver Thalassemia Society and the Hemoglobal organization which helps particularly those children in Sri Lanka who have limited access to regular blood transfusions.
My goals for this year will be the same. To raise AWARENESS of this disorder, as well as donate to the Vancouver Thalassemia Society and to the Hemoglobal Organization and to children in Pakistan suffering with Thalassemia.
Ticket are $25 and include a free drink and appies!

THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL DRAW DOOR PRIZE MIDNIGHT BEFORE THE EVENT WHICH IS A LIMO RIDE FOR WINNER PLUS GUEST TO AND FROM CIRCA RESTO LOUNGE THE NIGHT BEFORE EVENT!!!! (note:you will need to purchase a ticket for your guest, if they have not already done so at this point)
