Open House invitation to Growing Power Community Food Center.
Join us as we celebrate Earth Day with food sampling, beverages and opportunities to mingle. This year, we honor Earth Day with our new solar panel installation and a stormwater collection system. Our solar panel allows us to be energy independent, while the stormwater collection system augments our aquaponics system, which will be used to raise lake perch and rainbow trout, as well as irrigate vegetable crops.

compost. Start collecting your fruit and vegetable waste in a bin a
week prior and show us your love for the earth!
As of March 31st, we are completely powered by solar on sunny days.The solar power system was
built with the aid of a grant from WE
Energies.The photovoltaic panels are mounted
atop a structure called a pergola that
stretches 80 feet along the front of
Growing Power’s greenhouse center, where
they also form a sunshade for a new
sidewalk green market.
Stormwater Catchment system funded by a grant from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, will also be used to raised lake perch and rainbow trout, as well as to irrigate vegetable crops.
