Melina of Daughters of Rhea presents her fabulous Daughters of Rhea belly dance students of all levels and Cirque Passion circus family for a Spring Showcase Extravaganza on Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 at Karoun Restaurant!  This show is in memory of Stephen Heywood and in support of the ALS Therapy Development Institute.

Let's dance, have fun, and raise funds for ALS Therapy Devopment Institute (www.als.net), a non-profit medical biotech that I helped to found back in 1999. The mission of the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) is to develop effective therapeutics that stop ALS as soon as possible. Focused on meeting this urgent unmet medical need, ALS TDI executes a robust discovery program, as well as a multi-pronged approach to validate potential therapeutics; including small molecules, protein biologics, gene therapies and cell-based constructs. The Institute's unique, industrial-scale platform allows for the development and testing of dozens of potential therapeutics each year.

Our last showcase raised nearly $1,000 for Friends for Tomorrow, a nonprofit therapeutic horseback riding program in Lincoln.  Let's keep the charitable spirit alive and raise awareness and even more funds through shimmies for those suffering with ALS today.

This event is also a special birthday celebration for one of the longest standing Daughters of Rhea Company members in our community, the talented Panayiota!  Join us this evening to celebrate Panayiota, and as always, to celebrate life, community, creativity and bring awareness to a very important cause, ALS research.
