From studying law in the classroom to class action lawsuits, utilizing social media has become commonplace for students and attorney’s alike.  Privacy, social sharing at the speed of fiber optics and server farms in the "cloud" are changing the legal landscape.  Be a part of the conversation that is shaping what we can and can't do online. Social Media Club brings together journalists, publishers, communications professionals, artists, amateur media creators, citizen journalists, teachers, students, tool makers, and other interested collaborators. The Sacramento chapter was founded in March of 2009 by local users of social media.


Speaker Bios:

 

Attorney Jonathan Stein is the owner of a law practice handling all litigation matters from personal injury cases to debt-collection defense. He is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California; Association of Trial Lawyers of America; American Bar Association; Sacramento Consumer Attorneys; CPCU Society, CPCU Society Claims Section & CPCU Society Consulting Litigation and Expert Witness Section; California Young Lawyers Association - District II Rep.  Jonathan also contributes commentary and blogs for: California Debt Blog; California Personal Injury and Insurance Blog; California State Bar;   LawGuru.com; among others.

 

Kate Fitz is a public services (reference) librarian at the Sacramento County Public Law Library. She also practiced law for several years before becoming a librarian. She has been teaching "Web 2.0 for Lawyers" since 2008. She can be found on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and the virtual world of Second Life.

 

Sharon Lovell is a law student at Lincoln Law School and will be attending Humphrey’s College Lawrence B Drivon School of Law in the Fall of 2010. She is a graphic designer and photographer by trade and currently works at the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as an analyst. She has been active in social media since 2008 and combines her law school experiences, rugby, and photography into a unique presence on Twitter and Facebook. We are the Sacramento Chapter of the Social Media Club – an international organization of more than 100 active chapters around the globe hosting conversations that explore key issues facing our society as technologies transform the way we connect, communicate, collaborate and relate to each other.
