Event Details

Digital Photography has been around now for over fifteen years, but has only recently become widely accepted by professional photographers and photo buyers. The workflow and capture process is now easier, higher quality and more consistent if you have the right tools and knowledge. In this seminar, Michael Clark will present his workflow and options and discuss how workflows differ depending on how the images are captured, which cameras are used, and the type of photography produced. This extensive overview will include starting in camera and moving to file ingest, captioning, file renaming, editing and RAW Processing. Michael is a firm believer of getting it right in the camera so as to make the processing faster and easier. Overview: • Where are we at with digital? Cameras, lenses, sensors and megapixels. • Pre-shoot camera and equipment check • Shooting with custom white balance and digital techniques • Downloading images • Profiling and calibrating monitors • Inserting metadata and captions into RAW images • Editing, ranking and Batch Rename • Adjusting RAW images in Lightroom & exporting • Using Noise Ninja on images that need it (all images shot at ASA 400 and above) • Backing up your images – Doom and Gloom speech – the reality of hard drives • Organizing images – Digital Asset Management • Question and answer session Michael Clark is an internationally published outdoor photographer specializing in adventure sports, travel, and landscape photography. His editorial and corporate clients include National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Outside, Men’s Journal, Outdoor Photographer, Digital Photo Pro, Climbing, Nike, Nikon, Adobe, Patagonia and DuPont, to name just a few. He has risked life and limb on a variety of assignments to bring back stunning images of rock climbers, mountaineers, kayakers, and mountain bikers pushing their sports to the limit in remote locations around the world. As a former physicist Michael has worked on both sides of the technical revolution -- helping refine the technology and using it for his current profession. Michael has worked as a professional photographer since 1996 and added digital photography to his repertoire in 2003. While Michael still shoots some film, mostly medium format, the lion’s share of his images are now produced with high-resolution digital cameras. He has been featured in Outdoor Photographer (September 2001) and Nikon World Magazine (Summer 2006) for his work with extreme sports.
