Facilitators: Michael Brookshaw, Robert Anderson, Leonard Muaka and Uchenna Vasser

Recent research in psychology, education and cognitive science is beginning to revolutionize the teaching and learning paradigm in the classroom and transform best practices throughout university learning communities. The faculty at WSSU have been engaging in diverse pedagogical practices based on evidence-based teaching and learning for the last three years. This panel will discuss how select principles and practices—student prior knowledge, cooperative learning, student practice and feedback, questioning, critical reading strategies, critical writing techniques have impacted on their respective classrooms improving teaching and student engagement and learning. Audience members will be engaged in activities that they can adapt to their respective disciplines and apply in their own classrooms.
