Those that love to cook and enjoy dining out have been a part of the social explosion.  Bloggers, Yelpers and those who just love to post their delight from that last bite will enjoy the conversation in March.  Hosted by The Urban Hive in Midtown Sacramento.

Panelist Bios:

Garrett McCord, food blogger, VanillaGarlic.com & journalist, Edible Sacramento
Garrett McCord began the blog www.vanillagarlic.com in 2006 as a way to learn about food and a means to practice his writing. His blog has been featured in numerous websites and publications such as The Miami Herald, The Sacramento Bee, and The Philadelphia Inquirer.He also writes as a contributing author on Simply Recipes and Food Blog Alliance, and is a staff writer for Edible Sacramento magazine. His food writing has also appeared in the Sacramento News & Review, The Sacramento Bee, Sierra Style, and Sacramento Magazine. In 2008 some of his recipes were featured in the UK cookbook Great Big Vegetable Challenge. McCord is currently working on his graduate thesis analyzing the rhetoric of the Slow Food movement in his English Composition program at CSUS.

Elaine Baker is Pastry Chef at Grange Restaurant at The Citizen Hotel - a property of the San Francisco-based Joie De Vivre Hospitality group.   Grange is a farm-to-table, seasonally-driven restaurant featuring New American cuisine with Mediterranean influences.  Executive Chef Michael Tuohy is dedicated to using fresh, local, organic produce elevating Grange as one of Sacramento’s premiere dining destinations.  Selected by Chef Tuohy, Elaine creates seasonal desserts that are familiar yet unique, emphasizing the use of locally-sourced produce and artisan ingredients such as cheese and chocolate.  When Elaine isn’t in the kitchen, you can find her blogging at www.elainebakerspastryplayground.com.


Coral Henning, Social media coordinator, Slow Food Sacramento
Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people's dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world. To do that, Slow Food brings together pleasure and responsibility, and makes them inseparable.

Brittany Mohr & Liz Conant both play integral roles in the food and agribusiness practice group in the Sacramento office of global PR firm Fleishman-Hillard. From managing social media campaigns on behalf of clients including national restaurant chains, wine brands and food commodity boards to managing their own successful local food blog SacFoodies.com, Brittany and Liz keep a close pulse on the local food scene out of both personal and professional interest. We are the Sacramento Chapter of the Social Media Club – an international organization of more than 100 active chapters around the globe hosting conversations that explore key issues facing our society as technologies transform the way we connect, communicate, collaborate and relate to each other.
