Judaism as Journey and the Quest for Purpose
Dr. Bernie Steinberg
One of the big ideas of Judaism is that life is a journey of self-discovery. In this discussion with beloved and award-winning Jewish educator Dr. Bernie Steinberg, we will explore the milestones of Avraham’s journey as a paradigm for life quests. Together we will probe the profound uncertainties and risks involved, and gain insights on some of the complexities of human identity and values.
Dr. Bernie Steinberg is Vice President of Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, representing the Institute on the West Coast. Formerly President and Director of Harvard Hillel, Bernie has also taught at the Harvard Kennedy School and numerous North American colleges.
He was a founding Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute and serves on the faculty of the Wexner Foundation. A recipient of the prestigious Covenant Award, Bernie is a bridge builder whose life's work is devoted to dialogic interaction between diverse groups of people and between the academy and the community at large.
Bernie holds a doctorate in Jewish philosophy from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
