Event Details

Meditation is not a technique but a way of life. Meditation means 'a cessation of the thought process.' It describes a state of consciousness, when the mind is free of scattered thoughts and various patterns . The observer (one who is doing meditation) realizes that all the activity of the mind is reduced to one.

Prayer (the sincere desire of the heart) is a form of meditation of the heart. This practice leads towards "theosis" which ignores the senses and results in inner stillness.

On Sunday, March 21, 2010, come and join in with Spiritual Direction Ministries ("SDM") as it kick-off its wellness program entitled "WellSpirit." (More information regarding WellSpirit programs will be provided at this event.) This meditation gathering is sure to take you into the integrated dominion and territory of the heart, body and mind.

George Quant will be our guest presenter. He is a master teacher of the art and science of meditation. His unique teaching methods have allowed thousands around the world to master the practice of meditation and live more enriched lives.  He collaborated with Deepak Chopra in the early stages of Primordial Sound Meditation.

As the director of meditation for Marianne Williamson’s center for living his contribution to individuals recovering from AIDS, and cancer where widely recognized.

During his tenure as the director of meditation for the world famous Pritikin Longevity Center, George Quant developed the simple yet powerful technique of Integrated Quantum Meditation (“IQM”). The effectiveness of the IQM technique is not dependent on a person’s belief system or ability to concentrate. Rather, this practice of meditation provides a natural, simple, process for easy access to a domain that is often difficult to reach, “pure awareness“ also referred  to as the “spirit“, and “transcendental awareness“.  As an Executive Governor of the Transcendental Meditation (“TM”) program his contemporaries included the following world renowned  authors Johnny Gray PhD, John Haglen, PhD, Deepak Chopra, MD, R. Keith Wallace, Ph.D., and David Simon, MD.

As the international director of Transcendental Meditation Centers he tracked published research on TM and attended international conferences on consciousness, Vedic science, and quantum physics.  As the founding director of IKCA (a nonprofit research and educational corporation), he organized the team of researchers from UCLA, Charles Drew and Morehouse College that received a three million dollar grant from the National Institute of Health (NIH), the largest ever given for the study of meditation.  George Quant has lectured extensively on meditation from Stanford to Haile Selasse University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

His seminars have included workshops on meditation at  Loyola University in New Orleans, for clergy, lay professionals, administrative staff and civic leaders.  His diverse population of IQM practitioners includes students, celebrities, studio heads, 12 step, seekers, health & wellness, and everyday folks just wanting to find peace.  George Quant is currently the Director of Meditation and stress reduction at Peak Wellness in Beverly Hills, California.
