Camera Tech Series: iPhone Photography and Editing
Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM (EDT)
New York, NY
Have an iPhone? Have you used it to take photographs only to find you are only getting mediocre pictures? Camera phones have evolved from a little used value accessory to an almost ubiquitous presence in the lives of everyone on the grid. For many people, it has become one’s de facto snapshot camera, and for that reason alone it deserves at least some consideration of its merits. What are the capabilities and limitations of this device? We'll talk about the hardware associated with different models and what the native resolutions of their outputs are- how big can you print from them, etc. In addition, we will talk about specific applications with the intention of showing you ways that you can be creative in the phone all by itself without porting the photos to anything else.
Requirements: You must have a fully charged iPhone of any model to bring to this class. The instructor is requesting you purchase and download the following applications into the phone prior to the class as we will be using these programs in the class: Iris Photo Suite for $1.99 and Instragram for free.
About the Presenter:
Jeff Fowler is a photographer living in Brooklyn. His photographs have been seen on CNN, in Paper Magazine, in the San Francisco Chronicle, in the Guardian, and on the cover of Saxophone Journal (Lee Konitz, spring 2012). His first book, “The Edge of the Floating World,” a collection of photos from several years of living in Japan, was published in 2008.
