Booking It! Papermaking & Bookbinding Art Camp
Ages: 5th-12th grade

Interesting results occur each time a mold and deckle are dipped into paper pulp. Professional artists and craftspeople alike have used the arts of papermaking and bookbinding to produce unique art objects. Students in this class will not only create decorative papers from a variety of recycled and natural materials. They will mold paper pulp into artistic forms, color it with pigments, and make "marbled" papers. Then they will learn the art of putting it all together by various methods of hand binding, creating a hardbound scrapbook and one-of-a-kind notebooks. Along the way we will explore the development of papermaking through the ages. This introductory class is sure to spark their interest in these enjoyable activities.
