dinner and concert in aid of victims of slavery and oppression

 Jacob Moon

Canadian singer-songwriter Jacob Moon will be performing live in concert with a special presentation by Jamie McIntosh, executive director of International Justice Mission Canada (www.ijm.ca).

Jacob Moon (www.jacobmoon.com) comes by it honestly. His mother is a singer, and his father cut his teeth playing 12-string in Kingston Trio-style folk bands of the 60s. Moon himself came to music in his teen years, when he often skipped school to work on lifting guitar solos by greats such as Mark Knopfler and the Edge. Since then, he has been refining his craft and redefining what it means to be a singer, a songwriter, and a guitarist. His high level of skill in each of these areas has meant that he has been able to tour solo most of the time, and his touring has brought him clear across Canada and into the US. His passionate vocals and inspired lyrics are given flight by his total command of the guitar, which at times sounds like an entire orchestra, owing to his use of the JamMan, a live looping device that allows him to more fully realize his onstage ambitions as a solo artist. The opportunity to hear and experience a Jacob Moon show is not to be missed. Social justice is something very close to Jacob's heart, and so for many years he has been active in raising funds for many worthy organizations through his concerts, including International Justice Mission Canada.

Jamie McIntosh meets with government officials, justice professionals, and business and religious leaders to advance the cause of the oppressed. McIntosh leads teams of lawyers and investigators on international intervention efforts, provides counsel and support to IJM staff overseas, and speaks at universities, churches, police training events and other venues on behalf of victims of abuse.  During recent deployments, McIntosh assisted in securing the release of families from slave labour and participated in investigative operations leading to the rescue of forced child prostitutes. His travels have taken him to Africa, to gather documentary footage on torture, police misconduct and violent property grabbing, and to Latin America to conduct groundwork for a new field office.

Tickets are $25 - this includes a 3 course meal with a choice of 3 entrees.

IJM gratefully acknowledges the support of its sponsors: Spurs Grillhouse and Crumbs Bakery Cafe.
