The digital revolution is affecting all industries, but some industries--such as entertainment--are being rocked to their core.  Come watch a panel of industry experts discuss entrepreneurial opportunities and challenges in the entertainment industry.  And get a free lunch while you are at it.

 

Dan Halsted holds a B.A. in Political Science from UCLA. He started his career as an assistant to Scott Rudin before becoming an agent at United Talent Agency. After that, Halsted worked with Michael Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenberg at Hollywood Pictures (Disney) as an Executive Vice President. Leaving Disney, he created production company Illusion Entertainment with Oscar-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone. In 1999, with the help of Paramount Pictures, Halsted ventured out on his own with a multi-year, first-look production deal with Mandalay Pictures. In 2004, he formed Manage-Ment, to represent writers and directors as clients, as well as to produce various film, tv and web projects and to provide equity consulting and investment banking services to financiers. His projects include: The Virgin Suicides, Garden State, Arrested Development, Flights of the Conchords, The L Word, Jessica Biel’s F**king Engaged, Mad Men and many more.

 

Sasha Pasulka completed the FEMBA program in 2007 while working as a software engineer at Northrop Grumman. During her last year at Anderson, she founded EB Media, a web company producing entertainment-related blogs. Soon after, she partnered with RealNetworks in Seattle and continued to grow an audience of young female taste-makers. Today, EB Media’s sites reach a monthly unique audience of over 4 million readers with around half a million page views daily and attract advertisers such as Sony, Disney, Anheuser-Busch and Procter & Gamble.

 

Mika Onishi (WhoWhatWear.com, online media)

 As the COO of Who What Wear, Mika Onishi is charged with all non-editorial aspects of this growing multi-media brand, including strategy, business development and operations. WWW has quickly established itself as the definitive authority for trend-setting fashionistas and their followers, and is beloved by numerous stylish celebrities, all the while, appealing to all young women with their inclusive voice.

WWW reaches its audience through an online magazine and a subscription-based daily email newsletter covering the latest in celebrity fashion, runway trends, and beauty secrets. In addition, the WWW content includes online video and books. Prior to WWW, Mika held various roles in digital media, including production, marketing, strategy and business development. Mika holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

 

Virginie Grange is a global leader with over 15 years of experience in mobile, video game, consumer products and entertainment with a track record in business development, strategy, and business planning.

Over the past few months, she has been focusing on launching her own independent consulting practice VGConsulting, focusing on the video game and the mobile industry in strategy, planning and business development. She is currently working on content acquisition for a mobile start-up focused on emerging markets as well as advising a film music composer to break into the gaming industry. She has also worked on a strategic project for a Japanese game publisher focusing on digital distribution.

 

Until September 2008 Virginie was Director of Strategic Projects, PMO and Integrated Communications for Vivendi Games / Activision Blizzard where she led the Project Management Office as well as strategic projects such as studio acquisition and creation.

Prior to Vivendi Games she spent over 9 years at Disney Consumer Products’ European and Global headquarters were she held various roles in Strategic, Business planning and Finance.

 

Virginie is a French citizen and holds an MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA and a BSBA from Northeastern University.
