Holocaust testimony: Preserving and presenting survivor stories

When there are no longer any first-generation Holocaust survivors, their stories will live on through recorded testimony. The preservation, presentation and use of the testimony (and related personal photos and artefacts) collected by the Shoah Foundation Visual History Archive and at Melbourne’s Jewish Holocaust Centre will be discussed by Mark Baker (Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation, Monash University), Jayne Josem (Curator and Head of Collections, Jewish Holocaust Centre), Konrad Kwiet (Adjunct Professor in Jewish Studies at Sydney University and resident historian at the Sydney Jewish Museum) and Michele Langfield (School of History, Heritage and Society, Deakin University). This event is linked to the Monash University conference Aftermath: Holocaust Survivors in Australia (arts.monash.edu.au/jewish-civilisation). This talk is part of the Making Public Histories series presented in partnership with the Monash University Institute for Public History and the History Council of Victoria.
