Yes, Virginia, there IS a workshop for children's book writers!
Adults writing for children now have a cozy spot in Old Town to convene, conjure, and communicate. Jane Harrington, Alexandria author of fiction and non-fiction for ages six to fifteen, will lead this three-session workshop designed to encourage writers and share information about children's book publishing.
Whatever your experience level, whatever your genre, you are welcome to participate! Registration will be capped at twelve participants. If you have a work-in-progress, please bring up to eight (double-spaced) pages to the first meeting, with some copies to share.
About the instructor:
Jane Harrington writes humorous fiction and creative non-fiction for young people. Her published fiction includes middle grade novel LUCY’S (COMPLETELY COOL AND TOTALLY TRUE) E-JOURNAL (Scholastic, 2001), and teen novel FOUR THINGS MY GEEKY-JOCK-OF-A-BEST-FRIEND MUST DO IN EUROPE (Darby Creek, 2006). EXTREME PETS (Scholastic, 2007) draws from years as an environmental educator for parks and schools in the Washington DC area.
Jane is currently working on a master's degree at George Mason University in the Teaching of Writing and Literature, and tutors high school writers. Member of NCTE, SCBWI and The Writer's Center in Bethesda.
Please note: This course is limited to twelve people so that Jane can give you as much individualized attention as possible. Don't miss out on this opportunity: sign up early.
