Social Entrepreneurship Track: Navigating the Funding Landscape for Social Ventures with Brendan Cullen & Tom Fry of the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation and Georgia Levenson Keohane, author of Social Entrepreneurship for the 21st Century.

This dynamic group of investors and thinkers will lay out the broad funding landscape that is now before social entrepreneurs, and will share insights and advice on how to navigate that landscape based on a venture’s business model, intended impact, geographic location, and more.

The Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation seeks to dramatically improve the lives of people and the world around us through innovative strategies, systems changing approaches, and disrupting technologies. Their goal is to find social entrepreneurs with dynamic ideas and nurture them at the early stages with maximum leverage and total commitment.

Tom Fry, Portfolio Director, is responsible for identifying and supporting Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation Entrepreneurs and cultivating and engaging donors. Brendan Cullen, also a Portfolio Director, is responsible for identifying and supporting Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation Entrepreneurs.  The two manage the Foundation’s East Coast office in Boston. Both have extensive histories in impact investing, non-profit management, and for-profit investing and serve on the boards of numerous local and national social enterprises.

Georgia Levenson Keohane is a Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute, where she works on a range of issues in economic policy, including poverty and inequality, employment and job growth, and social entrepreneurship and the role of firms in society. Keohane's career has bridged the private and nonprofit sectors. A former McKinsey consultant and foundation executive, she advises a number of organizations including philanthropies, educational entities, community development agencies, and think tanks. She has taught at Yale, and is an adjunct professor in the Social Enterprise Program at Columbia Business School.
Keohane just released a new book on social enterprise, Social Entrepreneurship for the 21st Century.
