We have found that many planning teams have not taken the time to research or visit successful charter models throughout the City, nor looked at the various approaches and organizational structures of successful charter schools. Too often teams do not fully understand charter basics, and have no background upon which to build and design a quality school. We schedule school visits so that school founders and planning team members can meet with veteran school leaders, learn about various academic and organizational approaches, discuss charter specific issues, learn about start-up from a school perspective, and have an open forum to ask direct questions.
On Wednesday, February 13 we will be visiting Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School and Broome Street Academy Charter School in Manhattan. Attendees should meet at Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School by no later than 9:15 AM on the day of the event. Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School is located at 93A Nagle Ave., Ellwood Ave. Annex, NY, NY 10040.
