Introduction:

Your baby will soon be here and what an exciting journey ahead!  Here is a class designed to help you with the most important job you'll ever have:: First Time Parents!   This interactive two-night series will teach you the practical and essential skills needed for your newborn during that 4th trimester (the first 3 months after the birth!) .  You will learn all the basics of infant care from diapering and bathing (using demonstration dolls) to knowing when to call the doctor.

 In addition to all of the practical skills new parents need,  you will also learn more about the emotional and developmental behavior of your newborn. Newborns communicate quite well-we just need to learn how to observe their cues.  This class will incorporate the five simple steps for calming a fussy baby from "The Happiest Baby on the Block". You will practice swaddling and basic massage techniques with a demonstration doll, all designed to help you calm and comfort your newborn.

. Each couple will take home their own DVD/CD set of The Happiest Baby on the Block ($30.00 value) and class materials as well as a list of online resources.

This course is taught by experienced educators who are also certified in Happiest Baby on the Block and N.T.O.U.C.H  (Newborn- Touch Observe Understand Communicate Hold )

You do not have to be a Baptist Health patient. Everyone is welcome to attend our classes. This class is great for adoptive parents as well.

Seating is limited to allow for class interaction and discussion.  Registration & pre-payment  is required to reserve your spot and this class fills quickly so register early.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:

To accommodate others who may wish to attend this class, we ask that all cancellations be submitted at least 72 hours prior to the start of the class.  If you paid a fee for the event, and you submitted the cancellation notice 72 hours or more prior to the start of the event, you can either apply the class fee to another Baptist Health event or request a refund.  Please submit your cancellation instructions here via Contact the Host.
