JOEL HARRISON & SPIRIT HOUSE $20 general/$15 student & senior – concert alone $20 workshop alone $35 concert & workshop combo Guitarist, composer, arranger, vocalist and songwriter Joel Harrison deftly juggles all of these roles while venturing across stylistic divides. Melding influences from jazz, classical, country, rock and world music, his expansive sound fits equally well in jazz clubs and concert halls – and the occasional dive bar across town. He comes to the Jazzschool with Spirit House, an all-star band featuring trumpeter Cuong Vu (Pat Metheny); the unique Paul Hanson on electric bassoon; bassist Kermit Driscoll (Bill Frisell); and first-call drummer Brian Blade (Wayne Shorter, Joshua Redman). The group will mostly perform Harrison’s compositions written for this group, with additional pieces by Blade and Vu. Harrison and the band will also lead a Jazz Improvisation and Composition Workshop prior to the concert at 6pm.   There will be a Jazz Improvisation and Composition Workshop with Joel Harrison and "Spirit House" prior to the concert, 6 pm - 7:30 pm (click here to purchase combo ticket)
