About the Seminar:
Did you Know?
- Up to 40% of businesses fail after a natural or man-made disaster?
- 4 out of 5 businesses fail after the loss of a key executive?
- 82% of businesses agree that if someone made it easy for them to be prepared, they’d do it?
The Preparing Your Business for a Disaster/Business Ready Seminar, sponsored by the American Red Cross, will introduce participants to the world of emergency preparedness for your small business. It's meant to help you assess your current emergency plan and learn steps you can take to make it stronger. Through group discussion and a workshop format, the attendees will learn about:
- Personal Preparedness, and how that can translate into the work place
- Building and maintaining workplace disaster kits that can sustain your workforce in the event of a disaster
- Emergency response notification procedures to share with your entire business, organization, neighbors, and community
- General workplace safety that can help make getting through a disaster easier and help make recovery from a disaster faster
You'll complete a 123-point self assessment of their level of preparedness and have access to tools, tips and best practices to help improve your level of preparedness. The 123 Assessment has been aligned with the federal government’s Private Sector Preparedness Standards (PS-Prep).
Individuals participating in the seminar will complete a personal preparedness assessment in class, the Emergency Preparedness Checklist for Small Businesses and the Emergency Response Notification Procedures worksheet.
