About the workshop
The growth of digital media has created opportunities for arts organisations and artists to encourage new forms of creativity and to widen public access to arts and culture. Arts Council England’s recent Creative media policy emphasises the importance of accessibility in digital culture, and this broadening of participation in digital media is also supported by the equality legislation, and the development of new standards.
In response to these drivers this workshop offers a forum for considering practical and creative approaches to increasing access to disabled and marginalised groups.
The workshop aims to:
- Inspire arts organisations and artists to consider accessibility as a creative stimulus
- Introduce ideas, frameworks and tools to engage a wider audience
- Support the development and implementation of equality action plans
Who is this event suitable for?
The workshop is designed for arts organisations and artists who are thinking about how to ensure that their digital work is accessible to disabled and marginalised people. They may have begun to do this, or be at the very beginning of this process. It may be particularly suitable for those Arts Council England funded organisations developing equality action plans.
