Open Critique Groups
Whenever we have a free Saturday morning chapter meeting, we offer open critique groups for writers and illustrators during the second hour (11:00 am - 12:00 pm).
To participate in open critique groups, bring up to 5 pages of critique-ready work (4 copies) to share. In accordance with SCBWI critique guidelines, another critiquer will read your pages aloud, giving you the opportunity to listen to your prose or verse in action — a great test of readability. Bring fiction, nonfiction, illustration, poetry, synopses, query letters, or any other children's literature work you'd like feedback on.
*Not a member of SCBWI yet? Membership costs $85 for your first year, and just $70 to renew. With member-only discounts at SCBWI events and exclusive grant and award opportunities, your membership will pay for itself in no time! Click here for membership information.
