Get inspired, before work.

January 25, 2013, 8:30-10:00am

Factory 63 – 63 Melcher St., Boston, MA 02210

Our January presenters are Nigel Jacob and Chris Osgood of New Urban Mechanics.

Free tickets will be available Monday, January 21, starting at 7:00 AM.

The Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics is an agency within the Boston’s Mayor’s office tasked with finding innovative, impactful approaches to delivering city services with and for Boston’s residents. Their work includes a broad range of areas from fostering dialogue between city residents and city workers, to improving city streets, to boosting educational outcomes. The specific projects are diverse as well – from better designed trash cans to high tech apps for smart phones. Co-Chairs Nigel Jacob and Chris Osgood are tasked with developing partnerships within and outside of City Hall to identify, incubate and evaluate these projects. In recognition for their ground-breaking work in Boston, Nigel Jacob and Chris were both named Public Officials of the year in 2011 by Governing Magazine.

Designing the Future of City Services. The Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics is Boston’s civic innovation incubator. They explore how design and technology can be leveraged to transform city services and create greater collaboration between city residents and city workers. At this CreativeMornings event, they’ll share stories from some of their latest projects, talk about some new experiments from the office that are on the horizon, and look for your ideas about how Boston can be even better.

Design Museum Boston’s mission is to educate the public on the role of design in their lives and to unite the design community in ways that enrich our collective work and solve real-world problems more creatively. We’re a decentralized network of exhibits: whether in a gallery, retail environment, public space or on the web, our programming gives audiences new insights into the design process and the greater social, economic and environmental contexts that both affect and are affected by design.
