Fraud is an area that is constantly changing and internal auditors are being asked to do more to proactively and reactively address fraud.  This class will cover an overview of fraud and provide essential concepts that are beneficial to give an auditor a baseline understanding of fraud.  In addition we will cover hot topics and trends in the area of fraud.  Finally the course will provide interviewing tips and techniques for internal auditors to use during the course of their audits and/or investigations they have been asked to conduct.

Speaker BIO:

Mike Sherrod is a Director in the Corporate Security Services department at Capital One Financial. He joined the department in January 2012. In his role at Capital One he is the Fraud Specialist for Corporate Audit and Security Services. He assists the internal audit teams brainstorm around fraud risks and how to address fraud during the course of their audits. He assists the technology group in identifying ways to prevent, detect and monitor for potential fraud exposures in the various lines of business throughout Capital One using data analytics. He conducts fraud awareness training for all members of Corporate Audit throughout Capital One. Finally, Mike leads investigations of significant matters where his fraud and accounting expertise is required.
