Announcing PRSA Memphis’ Communicator of the Year

During this fall’s call for nominations, you sent us a wealth of prominent, skilled and admired communicators. After an overwhelming response, the awards committee is pleased to announce Duncan F.Williams, President of Duncan-Williams,Inc.as the 2013 Communicator of the Year!

“Duncan has shown a tremendous passion for communicating his company’s commitment to doing well by ‘going all in’ when it comes to getting involved in our community,” noted PRSA Awards Chair, Christina Meek.

The award is traditionally given to an individual for gaining public awareness for an event or effort benefiting either the city of Memphis or a local civic or philanthropic organization. Duncan has gone above and beyond in both categories throughout 2012.

One of the nominations the Awards Committee received for Duncan came from Shelby County Mayor Mark H. Luttrell, Jr. who will speak and present the award to Duncan at the PRSA Memphis January Luncheon.

In his nominations letter, Mayor Luttrell said, “As you know, I am a firm believer in the strength of our community, and I can think of no better person than Duncan that has delivered that message this year.”

Join us on January 9, 2012 beginning at 11:45am at the University Club as we honor Duncan F. Williams for his service and outstanding communications.

About PRSA Memphis

The Memphis chapter of the Public Relations Society of America is a melting pot of close to 200 communicators in positions with large corporations, small private companies, consulting firms, nonprofit agencies, educational institutions and free-lancers.

The Memphis Chapter was founded in 1952 when about 10 professionals met at the Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis. Today, more than 50 years later, almost 200 members meet throughout the year for programs, professional development seminars, awards programs and socials.

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), headquartered in New York City, is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals. The society's more than 19,000 members represent business and industry, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms and nonprofit organizations.

Since it was chartered in 1947, PRSA has continued to provide a forum for addressing issues affecting the profession and the resources for promoting the highest professional standards. It offers unequalled opportunities for improving skills and gaining knowledge, as well as for the exchange of information and experiences with other public relations professionals.
