Nissa's Seasonal Taqueria

Tonight we’re headed south of the border, where flavors explode like the volcanoes that speckle the Central American lands. Nissa will be transforming the kitchen into a Central American-Mexican haven with her famously divine tacos. You’ll learn all of the essential components of an authentic taco as well as experiment with new concepts and fixings about what makes a taco dangerously delicious. Traditionally, tacos include some fresh vegetables, seasoned meats, homemade guacamole, fresh salsa, some heat, and a luscious shell, but we can get creative with these components as we learn to fuse tradition with modernity. We’ll talk about the history of the taco, make our own tortillas, learn basic and intricate salsas, how to create rich, sultry taco meats, and how to spice to perfection. The art of the taco and its fixings take center stage in this class!

Managing Director of Ger-Nis International, Nissa Pierson, loves her tacos having grown up on them in Southern California. Having experienced the flavors and varieties of tacos offered in Central America, Mexico, and beyond starting at age 12. Tacos are a regular component to her diet and are always being cooked up fresh in her household. At 12, she learned love for the land and its people during her time in Nicaragua which in turn played a role in becoming a passionate advocate for fair-trade, organic products. Her other passions include good conversation and debates, kickboxing, the ocean and surfing, and submersing herself in the food and culture of the world. Contact Nissa
