What did Ronald Reagan believe? What was the man’s faith? What were his faith beliefs? And how did Reagan’s faith impact his life and his presidency?

Few have detailed that fundamental core of Ronald Reagan quite like Dr. Paul Kengor, professor of political science at Grove City College and executive director of The Center for Vision & Values. But now, this February 5, two other Reagan insiders will join Kengor for a live, interactive exploration of the very heart and soul of Ronald Reagan.

Dr. Kengor will be joined by the Rev. John Boyles, pastor at the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC, the church that President Reagan joined shortly after his inauguration. Boyles not only ministered to Reagan but was tasked by the president with some critical missions relating to the Soviet Union and Cold War, most notably as principal liaison to the persecuted Russian Pentecostals housed at the U.S. embassy in Moscow. Boyles also served as chair of the Reagan administration’s Advisory Committee on Ethical Values. A graduate of Yale Divinity School, Boyles became Presbyterian Chaplain at Yale and associate pastor of the Church of Christ at Yale. He later served as Protestant Chaplain to Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore Colleges in Pennsylvania. In Washington, Boyles served the Office of the Chaplain of the U.S. Senate.

Joining Rev. Boyles and Dr. Kengor in this fascinating discussion will be Bob Morrison, who served President Reagan in the Department of Education, where he worked closely with Secretary of Education Dr. Bill Bennett. Morrison continues to work with Bennett to this day, assisting him in several books, including the bestseller, America: the Last Best Hope. In the 1980s, Morrison became the first full-time Washington representative of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. In 1991, Morrison joined the staff of the Family Research Council, where he has served in many capacities, including as editor of Washington Watch, as Senior Education Policy Analyst, and as Vice President for Policy.

A Reagan biographer himself, Bob Morrison earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees in government and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia. Like Professor Kengor and Rev. Boyles, Morrison has paid special attention to Reagan’s faith story, including its relation to the collapse of communism. A military veteran, Morrison served as a Russian language interpreter during the height of the Cold War.
