Urban and Industrial Photography Workshop
Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (EST)
Urban photography is similar to street photography in that it takes place in an inner city environment but it differs from street photography in that it may or may not have people included in the image. Urban photos often take buildings, or rather the urban landscape itself as the main subject and if people are included in the picture is it is incidental. For this Workshop we will be hitting the Bronx, Dawn’s neighborhoodto be exact, to document many areas of industrial activity in the Southeast area of the Bronx.
In this Workshop, we will begin at Dawn’s apartment with a brief presentation on works in this genre such as works by the Bechers, Baltz, Shore and Vergara. After this presentation, we will hit the streets and learn about perspective distortion and how to avoid it as well as learn how tilt-shift lenses can give large-format features to DSLRs. Some highlights of the area will be overpasses, train bridges, working and abandoned warehouses, refineries, power plants as well as some landscape street art along the way.
Required: Bring your camera and wear good, sturdy shoes – no open-toes shoes!
Since this is a private residence, the exact address will be given out to attendees one day prior to the Workshop.
About the Presenter:
