BuzZ January :: Craft Beer and Great Design go Hand in Hand
Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 7:15 AM to 8:30 AM (EST)
Have you ever stood in front of the beer section at your local convenience store and critiqued the branding or packaging of your favorite beers? No one today doubts the importance of a strong brand identity yet there are still so many businesses and companies with lackluster, fragmented identities. This is painfully apparent in the craft beer industry where barriers like time, budget, resource allocation and a general lack of knowledge leave many breweries treading water when it comes to developing a brand ethos. This dilemma in the craft beer world raises big-picture issues such as the accessibility to a brand presence and the varying degrees of importance placed on identity design in different industries.
Please join Mark Iafrate, founder and writer for the Charlotte Beer Blog, in a discussion about the world of branding through the eyes of niche industries. What makes branding for beer successful? Unsuccessful? Perhaps it's our job to educate and convince them of the importance of good design.
AIGA Charlotte BuzZ is a meet-up event geared toward Charlotte area creatives and small business owners/employees. Please come join us for coffee as we discuss a different topic each month. Come to learn or come to share the knowledge you already have. Either way, just come see what all the BuzZ is all about.
About The Spoke Easy (BuzZ venue sponsor)
The Spoke Easy is all about the joy of riding a bicycle. They design and build custom bicycles and offer a gathering space for cyclists and designers. Remember the thrill of riding your first bike, the pumping of the pedals, and the wind through your hair as you set out on an adventure around the block? They want to help you experience that all over again and make cycling a part of your daily life—no stretchy pants required. And while they’re at it, they will build a community of like-minded individuals eager to celebrate all things involving two-wheeled transportation.
When & Where
At AIGA Charlotte, we want to build a more dynamic and creative community where area designers can participate, network, and grow. To make that happen, we're dedicated to providing education and inspiration to the creative arts community by offering a diverse schedule of programs, events, and initiatives.
Founded in 2000, we're an affiliate of AIGA, the oldest and largest membership association for professionals engaged in the discipline, practice, and culture of designing. Nationally, AIGA now represents 22,000 designers through 64 national affiliates and 240 student groups.
