Join us for two hours of horseback riding at our favorite place to ride in Florida, Deer Prairie Creek Preserve.
The 10,128-acre nature preserve is located in Venice, Florida, about 30 minutes south of Sarasota. Its primary purpose is to protect the floodplain of the Myakka River.
The
dominant natural communities are pine flatwoods, mixed hardwood and
pine, and wetland hardwoods. Epiphites (air plants) and wildflowers are abundant.
We may have an opportunity to view wildlife such as alligators, resident and migratory birds, bobcats, deer, armadillos, wild boar, snakes and other reptiles.
Your horse will probably walk most of the time, but if you're up to it, we may trot and canter a bit. We have both English- and western-style saddles.
The minimum age for this ride is 8. Florida State Law requires that anyone under the age of 16 must wear a helmet (provided).
