Margie Bermejo

Interprets Agustin Lara

with Dimitri Dudin (Musical Arragenments & Piano)

"El Veneno Que Fascina - Fascinating Poison"

Sponsored by the Mexican Consulate, in Santa Ana, CA.

Margie Bermejo is considered one of the most versatile and outstanding singers of popular contemporary music in Mexico crtically praised for her musical consistency and interpretative quality which are synonymous with anticonventionalism.  Ms Bermejo will sing the language of the heart, a musical conversation between the present and the past in the voice of Margie Bermejo and virtuosity of the piano, expressing both poetically and musically the feeling of love of all times.

Margie Bermejo is an exceptional artist in our musical scene.  Her task has been continuous risk, for she does not fit in commercial canons nor in those of the orthodox culture.  She has interpreted various musical genres and has been creator of interdisciplinary and theatre events.  She has performed in the most relevant international forums and festivals of our country and abroad.  Her discography comprises fourteen titles under Ediciones Pentagrama.  She was founder of the Center of Studies on Voice Usage (CEUVOZ, for its acronym in Spanish).  She graduated from the Theatrical Arts School of the National Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico, INBA, 66-68 generation.  She carried out voice studies with Professor Elizabeth Phinney at the Boston Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, Professor Jean Shapiro and in London with Professor Jill Purse.  She underwent special studies on Voice with the Roy Hart Theater Method and Linklater Technique.

Singer, actress and director of one-person shows, her work has always been linked to theater and vocal research.  Margie Bermejo celebrates years of singing in the framework of the Festejo 45, by offering a series of concerts in Mexico and abroad.
