The Richman Center invites you to the Richman Public Lecture Series on

Achieving Energy Independence for North America

With

Colin Davies, Vice President of Corporate Planning and Strategy at Hess Corporation and Professor Geoffrey Heal of Columbia Business School

Jesse Greene, Executive in Residence and Senior Fellow at the Richman Center (Moderator)

With recent discoveries of natural gas in the U.S., the new oil finds in North Dakota, advances in “Fracking” technology to extract oil and gas, plus resources in the oil sands in Canada, some now say it’s possible for North America to be energy independent in 10 years. We will examine whether this is possible given known reserves and industry capability. Government policies will need to be modified to support this goal. Our experts will discuss what should be changed to give the U.S. this economic advantage.

Finally we will explore whether we should strive for independence or use someone else’s energy first. Which is best for the U.S.?
