practice with Julianne
Wurm
Join Julianne Wurm in
the first public workshop to explore never before shared parts of her research
from inside the schools of Reggio Emilia. This will take participants deeper
into Reggio inspired practice exploring such things as the role of teacher,
pedagogista and atelierista, particular barriers to implementation, stare a
tavola, morning meeting, the Nido, and so much more...
The day will
include:
assemblea, use of arts,
role of the teacher, atelierista/pedagogosta, Americanisms/barriers
to implementation, and more.

Julianne
Wurm is the author of the best-selling book, Working in the Reggio Way:
A Beginner’s Guide for American Teachers based on the work she did as a
participant-observer in the school of Reggio Emilia, Italy. Julianne
was immersed in the culture and local community of Reggio Emilia during
the three years she lived there and this helped unpack the theory of
practices that gave rise to the Reggio-inspired practice. Julianne
continued to travel the country, working with teacher and refining her
understanding of pedagogy. She also uses technology to host very
popular webinars and online classes to bring educators from different
locations together to collaborate and learn. Julianne began her career
in education as a member of Teach for America and has taught in inner
city Houston, East Los Angeles and the Bronx, New York. Julianne is
currently working as an instructor as Columbia University, Teachers
College while writing her dissertation on teacher education. Julianne
has already completed an MA in curriculum and Teaching an EdM in Early
Childhood Education from Columbia University, Teachers
College.
