The excitement of the holiday season already fills the air, and our last conference of 2012 brings closure to a great year of learning and growing for teachers. Whether you need holiday ideas from around the world or goal setting tips for jumping into 2013, you'll find them at this day designed to help educators fill their cups so that they best is yet to come!! Enjoy just the morning, and hit the malls or parties in the afternoon, and get four more hours of training for 2012, or stay until 3:00 for a full six hours of professional development!
Feature class: The Best is Yet to Come!! - See the potential in children, work, and life as you learn to make choices that set your life on the course you want it follow.. Master the art of goal setting for 2013 - in lesson planning, in your career and professional development, and in your life outside the work world. A must for those who want more, AND for those who need to recharge their batteries!
Track One: Required Basics (8:00-3:00pm)
Child Abuse: Recognition & Reporting
Learn the warning signs of child abuse and neglect; the legal reporting requirements for teachers, directors, and owners, and how to protect yourself from being accused of abuse.
Safety and Injury Control
Keep the little ones in your care safe and reduce liabilities by discovering these "safety musts" for the classroom, the playground and field trips. Participants in this class will also leave with a better understanding of the DHR reporting requirements for accidents and injuries.
Infectious Diseases: Recognition & Prevention
Proper hand washing and diapering procedures are just a few of the sanitary practices addressed in this course to help early childhood professionals learn how to reduce the risk of spreading illnesses in child care.
Track Two: Curriculum for the Holidays (8:00am-12:00 noon)
Ooey Gooey Sensory or the Holidays - From Hanukkah to Christmas to Kwanzaa, you'll find sensory ideas to delight your little one's need for touching, smelling, and tasting to learn. Add excitement to your centers as you fill them with multi-cultural holiday ideas that stimulate the senses and make learning fun.
Games & Music to Make the Holidays Merry - Add spice, flair and movement to your indoor and outdoor large group times with these multicultural games and activities for the holidays. You'll find transition ideas, circle time games, and seasonal games that help you celebrate the holidays of the world.
(Teachers choosing this tract who need six hours should register for the feature class in the guidance series for their final session.)
Track Three: Guidance-Professionalism Series (8:00am-3:00pm)
8:00 - 12:00 Tackling Tantrums, Tall Tales, and other negative behaviors - guidance strategies that move children towards pro-social actions. ""Naughty or Nice" talk might have worked during the holidays for teachers and parents of the past, but today's educator's need multiple strategies to keep classrooms under control. Learn what the research shows about how children develop pro-social behaviors, and learn strategies you might try to reduce negatives and guide your little ones to deisred behaviors .
