Jumpstart Innovation Forum

featuring Lisa Lepson, Executive Director, Joshua Venture Group

Transforming the Landscape: Social Entrepreneurship’s Impact on the Jewish Community

In 1999, Joshua Venture pioneered the idea of supporting young entrepreneurial leaders to realize their visions of innovative enterprises. Ten years later, the field of social entrepreneurship in the Jewish and secular communities has flourished. Join Lisa Lepson, executive director of the newly relaunched Joshua Venture Group, as she shares

Global Entrepreneurship Week
  • What is social entrepreneurship?
  • Growth and change in the field over the past 10 years;
  • How to get involved in social entrepreneurship generally, and specifically in the Jewish community;
  • Case Study: The Evolution of Joshua Venture Group
    • The changing landscape since the program initially formed in 1999;
    • Re-launching Joshua Venture Group – How changes in the program reflect the current state of Jewish social entrepreneurship; and details about 2010-2012 Dual Investment Program

Space is limited for this event, so please reserve your place right away.

Lisa will elaborate on the national search for eight social entrepreneurs and how – if you have an important idea for a sustainable and impactful venture – you can apply for Joshua Venture Group's Dual Investment Program.

Lisa Lepson is  the executive director of Joshua Venture Group. She has extensive experience building start-up non-profits and for-profits with a social mission. Previously, Lisa was on the founding teams of RockCorps, a for-profit social venture engaging youth in volunteerism; Upwardly Global, a social entrepreneurial organization helping under-employed immigrants get back into their careers; and Exhale, a women's health direct service organization providing services, training, and education to empower individuals, families, and communities to achieve post-abortion health. Her organizational development and non-profit management experience also includes board membership of Killing My Lobster Theater Project and stints with Berkeley Hillel, San Francisco AIDSWalk, Juma Ventures, and Net Impact.

Lisa has traveled widely in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe. She holds an MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA and a BA in Comparative Literature in Hebrew, French, and English from Brown University.
