"There are more possibilities in Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in your mental patterns, Horatio."
-- Social Fluency's variation of Shakespeare's line from Hamlet.
Would you like to be warm, relaxed, and have a reputation as a good conversationalist at work and play but can't seem to "just do it"? Do you have a lot of potential but can't quite connect to others with your best self forward? In this workshop we teach you the exciting new brain research on Social Intelligence along with practical, mindfulness-based exercises to reclaim the dwindling art of face-to-face conversation. You will leave Thursday empowered with practical social communication skills that will allow you to take advantage of the opportunities surrounding all of us in one of the most exciting times in the San Francisco Bay Area's history.
"Why not go out on a limb? That's where the fruit is." -- Will Rogers
Co-taught by Will, a Men's Play and Work instructor as well as the co- developer of the Family Fluency program. Will is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the supervisor of Edgewood Center's Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program. He has a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). He underwent residential training in Zen Buddhism at Tassajara Zen Mountain Monastery and studied Kokikai Aikido for three years.
However, it was not until he got involved with Social Fluency that he was able to have a good time at a party. He credits Social Fluency with giving him practical, versatile, and life-transforming ways of thinking and behaving that now allow him to take advantage of the vast array of social and professional opportunities that are available to us daily. Will is passionate about passing on these practices to children and adults who want to reclaim a life of dignity, meaning, and good cheer with others.
