This
workshop production of Waiting for Lefty
explores Clifford Odets’ classic story of unions, class, hope, and perseverance
through music, motion, and poetry.
Written at the height of the Great Depression, the vigorous,
confrontational work, based on a 1934 strike of unionized New York cab drivers,
is re-examined by guest director Gina Belafonte and the cast in a visual and
aural exploration of the period and its story.
Waiting for Lefty will be performed in BB2 on Friday, October 23; Saturday, October 24;
and Monday, October 26 at 8:00 PM nightly. For reservations please check back online beginning October
14, 2009.
To gain entrance to the show,
bring your printed confirmation to the Box Office located in the CalArts main
gallery on the 3rd floor at least 20 minutes before curtain.
