Behavioral Economics for Startups

Designing great experiences relies on a deep understanding of user motivations and behavior. Enter: behavioral economics -- the science of understanding people's decisions on a small and a large scale. Startups can use behavioral economics to design conversion pages, improve customer and employee retention, design pricing pages and drive optimal user behavior.
Learn how the behavioral economics can help us understand some of our irrational tendencies — specifically the mechanisms at work behind dishonest behavior. The implications of this research are far reaching and include a better understanding of the most recent financial crisis and some of the challenges in healthcare.

Dan Ariely is the James B. Duke Professor of Psychology & Behavioral Economics at Duke University, where he holds appointments at the Fuqua School of Business, the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience, the School of Medicine, and the department of Economics. He is the author of two New York Times Bestsellers: Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces that Shape Our Decisions and The Upside of Irrationality: The Unexpected Ways We Defy Logic at Work and at Home. He is a regular contributor to Marketplace on NPR.
