Americans donate billions of dollars to charitable organizations every year. Many contributions are in cash; others in tangible goods. Because of the huge amounts of money involved, charitable donations have always been ripe for abuse. Congress has known this a long time and just this past August passed 18 specific provisions in the Pension Protection Act of 2006 which impacts all taxpayers regardless of how much or how little they give to charities. Come and listen to many of the revisions which will impact the bottom line of what you are going to be paying on April 15th and what sort of guidance has the IRS given since its passage.
