Location: Lindner Conference Center

Ample time provided for lunch (on your own)

Cost: $58 (After March 9 – $72)

Dr. Craig Evans demonstrates “from his own intimate familiarity with the biblical texts and his mastery of ancient sources how unfounded are many of the claims made and how ridiculously bizarre are the hypotheses thought to give some support to The Da Vinci Code and its like. The mature judgment of such an accomplished and front-rank scholar cannot be ignored or lightly gainsaid,” James D. G. Dunn, Lightfoot Professor of Divinity Emeritus, University of Durham.

Some topics covered:

• The Question of Authenticity

• A Fresh Look at Healings and Miracles

• Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up? Unfabricating His Aims and Claims

• Why the Distinctive Conclusions of the Jesus Seminar are Rejected by Most Scholars in North America and Europe.

From this seminar you will be able to:

– Defend the historical validity of the Gospels.

– Refute the claims of the “Jesus Seminar.”

– Communicate effectively with skeptics and seekers.

This seminar is for pastors, preachers, ministry leaders, students and laity.

Craig Evans is Payzant Distinguished Professor of New Testament at Acadia Divinity College of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada. He received his B.A. degree in History and Philosophy from Claremont McKenna College, his M.Div. degree from Western Baptist Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Biblical Studies from Claremont Graduate University in southern California.

Author and editor of more than fifty books and hundreds of articles and reviews, Professor Evans has given lectures at Cambridge, Durham, Oxford, Yale, and other universities, colleges, seminaries, and museums, such as the Field Museum in Chicago and the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Ottawa. Evans has appeared several times on the television programs Faith and Reason and the John Ankerberg Show. He has appeared in several History Channel and BBC documentaries and is a regular guest on Dateline NBC. Evans also served on the National Geographic Society’s Gospel of Judas project.
