Improve your writing skills and chances of publishing short commentaries in newspapers, magazines, on blogs, and in e-textbooks. Participants will work on their own 400-500 word commentary, strengthen their language sklls and learn about electronic publishing through the facilitator's very own e-textbook in progress. A writing workshop for beginning and practicing writers interested especially in electronic publishing and e-textbook possibilities.

This class is a brown-bag lunch. Water and drinks provided in price of admission. 

Facilitator: Buck Ryan is a published author of books and newspaper commentaries with 30 years of teaching experience, including the past 16 years at the UK School of Journalism and Telecommunications. He has also taught at the University of Missouri and Northwestern University.

Suggested preparation: Participants are encouraged to bring ideas that they can turn into 500-word commentaries for publication. This is an interactive writing session. Participants will read and analyze Pulitzer Prize-winning editorials and commentaries and engage in a "Grammar Slammer."
