Event Details
Lace up your hiking boots; we’re taking a trip out west! To Pennsylvania, that is. Come with us on a beautiful, but strenuous, autumn trek up Mt. Minsi. This is not a trail for hiking newbies - you must be in good physical shape and ready for a challenge. We’ll stop to eat lunch along the way, so be sure to bring something to munch, as well as loads of water. With the leaves changing and fall in full swing, the payoff at the top will definitely be worth the climb.
Specs:
The hike is classified as strenuous and is about 4 miles long.
The hike should take 4 hours.
This is not a hike for "first timers". You must be in good, athletic shape.
Group will stop to eat lunch along the trail. BYOLunch.
Member Cost:
$5 for the first 5 to buy a ticket
$10 for the next 6-25 to buy a ticket
$20 at the door (so please register online)
Non-Member Cost:
$20 online and at the door
Tickets:
There are a limited number of Tickets for sale.
Tickets are not mailed, but your name will be kept at the door.
Actual hike is subject to change depending on weather conditions, fallen trees, etc.
All sales are final.
Sweeper:
If the group is large we are going to look for 2 volunteers to act as sweepers. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.
Hike Leader:
Keira will be leading this hike.
What to bring:
Hiking boots and water (both required).
Snacks, a lunch, layers of clothing, etc.
Toilet paper, tissues, plastic bags for garbage, etc.
Do NOT wear sneakers.
Inclement Weather:
Precipitation might cancel this hike but we often walk in light rain. Please check your inbox for updates and the NJYP.org calendar. Tickets will be refunded.
Directions:
From almost all points in NJ – take Interstate 80 west to the Pennsylvania border. Cross the toll bridge and stay to the right at the toll plaza and immediately take PA Exit 310 toward PA-611/Delaware Water Gap. Once on exit ramp, continue to the first right hand exit – follow the exit down a circular ramp. At the traffic light at the end of the ramp, turn right onto Broad Street. Continue on Broad Street until you reach a traffic light in the village (you will have passed a diner and the Village Bakery on the left, and there will be a pizza restaurant on the right). Turn left onto Main Street. Continue approximately 0.3 miles on Main Street, and look for the Deerhead Inn on the right. Turn right at the Inn onto Mountain Road. Take the next road on the left (Lake Road) into the trailhead parking area.
