Training of the Parent Member
The New York State Education Department-vetted training was developed for use by the Special Education Parent Center and Regional Special Education Technical Assistance Support Center network to promote quality special education services for all students with disabilities. The training is intended to provide CPSE and CSE Parent Members with a best practices approach to the CPSE/CSE process and their role as a Parent Member that is consistent with State law and regulation.
This training is the first step in becoming a parent member. Intended Participants are Manhattan parents that have children with disabilities that are interested in becoming parent members.
The Specific goals of this training are for Parent Members to have:
- A greater understanding of the role and requirements of a Parent Member and the special education process.
- Techniques and strategies to fulfill the Parent Member role in a meeting.
Space is strictly limited. Registration is required.
