Earn Three Hours of Continuing Education Credit!

Much has been written about the practice of mindfulness and meditation in recent years.  This workshop will summarize the resarch on the use of mindfulnes as a therapuetic technique and offer practical strategies for using mindfulness in the context of counseling and psychotherapy.  This interactive workshop will require participants to practice mindfulness as it relates to their work with clients.

Learning Objectives
This workshop provides an opportunity for participants to:

1. Summarize the current status of research supporting the use of mindfulness in counseling
2. Summarize the basics of mindfulness practice
3. Identify ways in which mindfulness might enhance personal life and therapeutic work
4. Explore ways in which mindfulness might be integrated with current counseling practices
5. Identify clients for which mindfulness practice might be contraindicated
6. Identify ways that mindfulness can be used to strengthen the therapeutic relationship
7. Engage in a mindfulness practice designed to help professionals better join with clients.

Who Can Benefit?
This workshop is designed to meet the professional development needs of anyone working in the mental health field.  In addition to licensed professionals, residents, interns, students, case-managers, paraprofessionals and other support staff may find the workshop content beneficial.

Continuing Education Credits
Three (3) Continuing Education Credits / Contact Hours will be awarded by the Germanna Community College Center for Workforce and Community Education for successful completion of the course.
