Event Details

In this deeply researched and clearly written book, historian Alan Taylor tells the riveting story of a war that redefined North America. During the early nineteenth century, Britons and Americans renewed their struggle over the legacy of the American Revolution. The Civil War of 1812 is a vivid narrative of an often brutal (and sometimes comic) war that reveals much about the tangled origins of the United States and Canada.

Dr. A. Glenn Crothers is the Director of Research at The Filson Historical Society and an associate professor in history at the University of Louisville. He is the author of Quakers Living in the Lion’s Mouth: The Society of Friends in Northern Virginia, 1730-1863.

Attendees are invited to bring a bag lunch. The Filson will supply soft drinks.

Limited Capacity; Reservations are required.
