Enzyme / Substrate Reactions

Students will use Tyrosinase extracted from mushrooms to create an enzymatic reaction under different conditions.

After comparing the results of each condition, it is clear which factors affect enzyme function.  Students will apply findings to current pharmacology research and to their everyday lives.

In this training you will:

  • Learn a new lab that will help students to visualize enzymatic reactions and how researchers at UCSD apply these concepts to drug development.
  • Participate in lecture/discussion with a UCSD researcher and visit a research lab.
