"Creating Sustainable Sites" Presentation Details:

CAD programs can extract data from simple geometry, such as lines and polygons. However, with the right software tools, you can also create, model, and present within one application, as well as analyze, report, and select materials more appropriately. The intuitive processes explained in this session will address the Areas of Focus, such as soils, hydrology, vegetation, materials, and human well-being, as proposed in the Sustainable Sites Initiative: Guidelines and Performance Benchmarks 2009 by the Sustainable Sites Initiative.

Participants will:

• Understand the five Areas of Focus as proposed by the Sustainable Sites Initiative.
• Learn how purpose-built site analysis tools, such as Digital Terrain Modeling (DTM) and GIS file integration, can make conceptual and preliminary site plans easier to design.
• Learn how tools, including the multifaceted Landscape Area Object, Site Modifier Objects, 2D/3D Plant Data Objects, Plant Database, Solar Animation, Custom Reports, and many others, can help you meet the expectations of a sustainable site.

About the Presenter:

Donald Ward, Vectorworks expert and trainer at Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc., has been with Nemetschek Vectorworks for six years, initially as a senior technical support specialist working directly with Vectorworks customers. Since 2007, he has been conducting Vectorworks classroom and online training courses at all levels, and he has also presented at numerous industry events including LDI and ASLA annual conventions. Ward also supports U.S. sales and marketing initiatives by working with the user group community and by providing customized on-site team training for Vectorworks clients.
