BIM is the whole of the processes served by technology that is comprised of the formulation, design, analysis, encoding, decoding, fabrication, simulation, and management of a project. There are various BIM applications to address different viewpoints, or workflows, and each has a unique native/proprietary file format, which may or may not be directly compatible with others. Therefore, there needs to be a way to translate or transform the desired data in order to move it from one system to the next. In this presentation, we will discuss how you can do BIM collaboratively using IFC interoperability.

Participants will:

• Be able to define Open BIM and IFC
• Understand how to improve interoperability and collaboration with design partners using Open BIM workflows and IFC technology
• Examine a case study demonstrating Open BIM workflows and IFC technology
• Observe examples of how Open BIM and IFC are used today

About the Presenter:

Rubina Siddiqui, Assoc. AIA, Architectural Industry Specialist, utilizes her BIM knowledge and architectural experience to assist with the development of Vectorworks products and to support the U.S. sales and marketing team. She works with architects to understand their needs and goals, and demonstrates how Vectorworks BIM workflows can benefit their projects.
