Event Details

How to tell science from science-ish: tricks and tips for evaluating health-related statements by policymakers, opinion leaders, and the media.

An intimate lunch and learn session with Julia Belluz and Prof Cameron Norman, Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

12:00 pm:
Informal presentations

Julia Belluz and Prof. Cameron Norman. 


12:30 pm:
Workshop

Over lunch, students will break out into small groups to critically appraise a health statement from the day’s news. They will come up with ideas about how they would probe the statement, and hold the statement-maker to account, which questions they might ask, etc.

 

1:00 pm:
Discussion

Debrief with group about findings and take away items.
