The New York Metro chapter of the Institute for International Film Financing (IIFF) continues its popular series of monthly gatherings at the junction of film & finance with another special Townhall Meeting in New York City. Our friends at School of Visual Arts are again hosting us at their main building in the heart of Manhattan, conveniently located near the corner of 23rd St. & 3rd Ave.
This "grassroots" community get-together is designed to foster & inform productive relationships between attending professionals and to provide unbiased insight & education about the business of film (and film financing in particular). The event features a powerful roster of highly topical speakers from the filmmaking and financial industries. We are delighted to once again welcome real-world financiers among our guests for the evening!
IIFF's one-of-a-kind mission is to sustainably expand the scope & appeal of film financing, and to do so for the benefit of the public at large. The evening's five presentations & panel discussion will address key issues relevant to filmmakers, financiers, and anyone interested in the economics, business mechanics, and financial dynamics of film. They will be followed by Q&A time. Attendees will also have ample opportunity to interact & network with our distinguished presenters and panelists and amongst themselves.
An informal après-meeting celebration will take place at an area restaurant.

The event will be expertly moderated by David Rosen (bio), a veteran executive in the media and technology industries with over 25 years of hands-on experience in fundraising, business development, strategic planning, competitive analysis, market research and strategy. David has served as VP of Corporate Development at IP video networking company ComCam. He is the Executive Producer of the Digital Independence conference.
Previously, David worked as VP of Business Development and Marketing at Advanced Visual Systems, International Marketing Director at pioneering computer maker Commodore, and VP of Entertainment Services at LINK Resources/IDG. He has served on the Board of Directors or Advisors at Independent Television Service (ITVS), Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Rockefeller Foundation's National Video Resources (NVR), and Film Arts Foundation (FAF). David was also an advisor to Rep. Richard Gephardt, several leading foundations, and other public-policy organizations. He is the author of the book "Off-Hollywood: The Making & Marketing of Independent Films" as well as numerous articles. His TV credits include ABC's "The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald" and PBS's "The American City" with John Lindsay. (more)

This month's Townhall is graciously hosted by the prestigious School of Visual Arts (SVA), one of the nation's largest independent, regionally accredited art –and film– schools.
SVA, located in the heart of New York City, is an established leader and innovator in the education of artists, offering graduate, undergraduate and continuing-education classes. From its inception in 1947 as a trade school with three instructors and 35 students, SVA has grown into a dynamic, multidisciplinary institution with a faculty of more than 800 and a student body of almost 3,500. Along the way, SVA has instituted numerous educational innovations, including the selection of professionals working in the arts and art-related fields as instructors. SVA distinguishes itself by its extensive facilities, state-of-the-art equipment, unique program philosophies, and the size, breadth and professional standing of its faculty. Each faculty member is a practicing artist, filmmaker, designer, or photographer committed to the professional art world as well as to teaching the next generation of artists.
Very special thanks go to SVA's Film, Video and Animation Department and its Chairman, Reeves Lehmann. The members of the Film, Video and Animation Department are industry-renowned for turning ideas into cinematic works of art; the faculty even includes Oscar winners. He has over 25 years of experience in new business development, strategic planning, competitive analysis, market research and strategy, focusing on startup and business-unit initiatives, fundraising projects, new product/service introductions and US market entry by foreign companies. Mr. Rosen has served as VP of Corporate Development at ComCam, an innovative Internet Protocol (IP) video networking company. Previously, he held a number of executive positions including: VP of Business Development and Marketing at Advanced Visual Systems (formerly MuSE Technologies), a leading provider in data-visualization tools and solutions; International Marketing Director at desktop computer maker Commodore International, where he oversaw the worldwide introduction of the first CD-ROM (Amiga) system and over 100 titles; and VP of Entertainment Services at LINK Resources/IDG, consulting on new-product introductions and strategy for Apple, AT & T, CBS, Hughes, Microsoft, Philips and other leading companies. Mr. Rosen is the Executive Producer/Convener of Digital Independence, a conference on creativity, technology and democracy that has been supported by the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations and other prestigious organizations. In the past, he has served on the Board of Directors/Advisors for the following non-profit groups: Independent Television Service (ITVS), public television's principal producer and distributor of independent programs (where he also held the position of Treasurer); Museum of Modern Art (MoMA/NY, Video Collection); Rockefeller Foundation's National Video Resources (NVR); Film Arts Foundation (FAF); and the "Shaping San Francisco" social history multimedia project. He has also been an advisor to Rep. Richard Gephardt, the Benton, Ford and MacArthur Foundations, and other public-policy organizations. Moreover, Mr. Rosen is the author of "Off-Hollywood: The Making and Marketing of Independent Films" (Grove, 1990), which was originally commissioned by Robert Redford's Sundance Institute, and, most recently, "The Next Telecom War: Moving From Net Neutrality to Infrastructure Common Carriage" (Filmmaker Magazine, Summer 2008). He has also written for the Hollywood Reporter, Red Herring, San Francisco magazine, Foundation News and contributed to numerous college-level management textbooks and other publications. He conceived and prepared the treatment for a four-part television series on the digital communications revolution for the Socratic Dialogues/MIT Media Lab.
